Three FedEx trucks performed truck-to-truck loading of packages on Oweno Road, a residential street, on December 18, 2024 between 3:09 and 3:29 PM, as documented by Mahwah Police Report 2024-35028.
The incident is entirely recorded on video, and appears to include the more than 40 violations, including:
- Three incidents where three FedEx trucks perform loading of packages on residential streets.
- Five infractions where three FedEx trucks were parked between 2 and 3 feet from curb, when NJ Law requires parking within 6 inches. When the Mahwah Police Office asked the trucks to stop blocking the driveways, the trucks parked again more than 2 feet from the curb. In general, because of the required maneuvering to align two trucks, the distance from the curb always exceeds the state maximum.
- Each and every FedEx back-to-back transfer on a public roadway is illegal, as one FedEx truck is parked in the illegal direction. NJ Law requires every vehicle to park “on the edge of the roadway headed in the direction of traffic”. Two infractions which we observed by the Mahwah Police Office.
- The three infractions of blocking a driveway were observed by the Mahwah Police Office. FedEx Truck #1 entirely blocked the Driveway at 94 Oweno Road and blocking my driveway at 90 Oweno Road from northbound access. FedEx Truck #3 also entirely block another (third) driveway.
- During these frequent FedEx truck-to-truck transfers, FedEx trucks leave their engines idling for long periods of time, even though New Jersey prohibits idling of a vehicle for more than maximum time allowed by NJ Law. FedEx Truck #1 and #2 left their engines idling between 3:10 and 3:14:51 PM. FedEx Truck #3 left his engine idling between 3:13 and 3:17 PM. Three infractions, which occurred prior to the Mahwah Police Officer’s arrival.
- FedEx truck #3 blocked a fire hydrant, which should have been observed by the Mahwah Police Office.
- 25 incidences where passing motor vehicles were impeded. She details below.
- 3 incidences where passing pedestrians, including a baby carriage, were impeded. She details below.

During the 20 minutes in which the three FedEx trucks were present, the 3 FedEx trucks impeded 25 motor vehicles, including a school bus carrying children,
- 3:10pm: Two northbound cars
- 3:13: Southbound FedEx truck#3, plus 1 northbound SUV
- 3:17: Southbound School Bus, filled with children, plus 1 car
- 3:19: One Northbound FedEx Truck
- 3:21. One Northbound automobile, and one southbound vehicle requiring offset passing
- 3:22 one Southbound vehicle
- 3:23 two Southbound vehicles
- 3:25 one Northbound vehicle
- 3:26 one Northbound vehicle
In addition to the 25 motor vehicles, 3 pedestrian’s safety, including a baby in a carriage, as follows:
- 3:12pm: 1 northbound pedestrian
- 3:25 1 northbound pedestrian and baby stroller
